Travel Blog: Exploring Dubai's Delights - Day 1 in the Emirati Metropolis

Date: July 5, 2023

Our adventure began in the vibrant city of Penang as our group of five eagerly embarked on a journey to Dubai. With high hopes and spirits5 of us got up really early and spent nearly half an hour to reach Penang International Airport.

We stumble upon Halal Malaysian cuisine to have breakfast local Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai.

However, some of us wanted more from the order and decided to take away McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with eggs and Pancakes.

We arrived at Penang International Airport at the crack of dawn, ready to embark on an exciting travel experience.

Finally, at 2:30 pm, we touched down at Dubai International Airport, marking our official arrival in the dazzling city of Dubai. Eager to begin exploring, we wasted no time and quickly made our way to our hotel, the Palm Beach Hotel. Which is around Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road.

The warm hospitality and luxurious amenities provided the perfect respite after a long day of travelling. After arriving at the hotel we were suffering from jet lag and needed to rest.

After settling into our rooms and recharging our energy, at 4 pm, we prepared ourselves for an evening filled with the tantalizing flavours of Dubai. At 5 pm, we indulged in a delightful tea-time experience at the hotel. To savour the local cuisine, we shared the cost for the Arabian and each of us had a portion of Tea House Special Wrap and Emirati Vegetable Sambosa. The fragrant aromas and intricate flavours of the food tantalized our taste buds, providing a delicious introduction to Emirati cuisine.

With our appetites satisfied, we ventured out to explore the lively night market at Al Karama at 7 pm.

Sun is setting and we decide to circle around the night market at Al Karama

The bustling market offered a wide array of souvenirs and dried foods, tempting us with its vibrant displays and cultural delights. We took our time strolling through the maze of stalls, immersing ourselves in the lively atmosphere and discovering unique treasures to bring back home.

At the local Al Karama night market the items are on display. A bazaar is known for its fake designer products, both in plain sight and in less discreet back rooms of stores. This is the place to go whether we were searching for a knockoff Prada handbag, a Louis Vuitton luggage, or just some good brand-name sunglasses, shoes, or watches.

As the night wore on, we were captivated by the city's lively streets, adorned with dazzling lights. We decided to have dinner while continuing our exploration of the night market street. The local eateries offered an impressive variety of cuisines, allowing us to indulge in the flavours of Dubai. The diverse culinary scene reflected the city's cosmopolitan nature, leaving us spoilt for choice.

At a glance from a distance, we notice Al Karama’s street food that serves Burger steak, Liver Sandwiches, Pizza and Egyptian Hawawshi. To explain further about Hawawshi, it is a pita that has minced meat inside and is spiced with parsley, onions, pepper, and sometimes chillies. Moreover, we never hesitate to try out this street food

With satisfied stomachs and happy hearts, we concluded our day at the night market street, cherishing the memories we had made during our first day in Dubai. Upon closer to midnight, be well-rested for another day to explore. We headed back to the hotel to recuperate. Therefore, we are looking forward to the adventures that awaited us in the days to come.
